In Dharamsala... but the Dalai Lama is in Australia...

After enjoying the "warm" temperatures of the Indian plains (lows 90s/highs 120-130s F), I am now in Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh (Northern India), home to the Dalai Lama. Unfortunately, his Holiness is currently in Australia...

The temperature here is much more reasonable than the plains (60s/80s F), although it is overcast and rainy for the most part. It's a good thing I sent my rain gear home! But quite honestly, I could care less what the weather is like... the temperature is all that matters at this point!

I really enjoyed my stay in the plains in spite of the heat.

Varanasi was all that I could have expected and more-- the culture and atmosphere there is just unprecedented. From Varanasi, I went southwest to Khajuraho, which is most famous for its Kama Sutra temples. Then I went to Agra and the Taj Mahal before heading to Amritsar and the Golden Temple and border crossing ceremony with Pakistan. All of what I have experienced thus far in India surpassed all my expectations.

I am currently taking advantage of the super-fast Internet connection in Dharamsala to upload the remainder of my Nepal photos so that I can add commentary and publish more photos for you all soon.

I plan on staying in Dharamsala until Sunday before heading toward Kashmir.

I hope that all is well with you all at home and wherever you may be, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Love,
C.J.
